Roslyn Helper


Roslyn Helper is an artist, writer and curator. Prior to joining Underbelly Arts, Roslyn was the Artistic Director of Electrofringe from 2012-16 and founder of online exhibition space New Physics. She has held roles at Artspace, Sullivan+Strumpf, Sydney Festival and FBi Radio. Her solo and collaborative work has been presented for The Biennale of Sydney, Kaldor Public Art Projects, The Festival of Live Art (FOLA), Performance Space, Liquid Architecture, Firstdraft, MOANA and at numerous other independent events and institutions nationally and internationally. Roslyn holds a BA (media and communications / government and international relations) from Sydney University, and an MA in Arts Politics from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.

David Robb



David Robb has been a board member since 2012. He is a corporate lawyer based in Sydney and heads the legal team in Macquarie Bank’s retail banking and financial services business. He has previously been chair of dance company De Quincey Co and chair of Justice Connect (when it was the Public Interest Law Clearing House, NSW).

Clare Cahill

Board Member


Clare Cahill is Senior Marketing Manager for Creative Cloud for Asia Pacific. She has worked in the Graphic Arts industry for over 20 years in both the UK and Australia, making the permanent move here in 2000. Clare joined Adobe systems in 2006 just prior to the Macromedia acquisition, so has been in the world of all things Adobe since CS2.

Kate Dezarnaulds

Board Member


Kate Dezarnaulds is a business development consultant currently working on major projects for StartupAUS, TEDxSydney and The Chaser Lecture & Dinner. She has degrees in art history and business, and since spending her early years working for Sotheby’s in London, Hong Kong and Sydney, her career has roamed the commercial and not-for-profit landscape, mostly in the arts. She is also on the board of the National Trust of Australia (NSW) and was until recently a member of the South Coast Tourism Board. She works in Sydney, but lives the tree-changer’s cliché in Berry on the South Coast of NSW.

Diana Palmer

Board Member


Diana Palmer is the founder of Palmer Art Projects and permanent exhibition space PALMER. Prior to this Diana had professional appointments at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (MCA), Sullivan+Strumpf, Tim Olsen Gallery and Sothebys as well as being appointed guest curator of THE ART HUNTER in 2014, a major exhibition of International and Australian art sponsored by Jaguar. Diana also developed and launched the dynamic Museum of Contemporary Art, Young Ambassadors program in 2011. This industry leading program was designed to engage audiences in contemporary art and philanthropy and has been a model for philanthropic membership programs in the arts ever since. She is currently on the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize Committee and a dedicated volunteer lifesaver on the Northern Beaches. With a Masters of Communication from University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Fine Arts UNSW, Diana brings critical expertise to exhibition development whilst consistently focussing on accessibility and engagement within the arts sector. 

Lisa Havilah

Board Member


Lisa Havilah is the Director of Carriageworks.  Since 2012 she has implemented an ambitious contemporary multi-arts program that is unrelenting in its support of artists. Under her leadership Carriageworks has experienced extraordinary audience, artistic and commercial growth, resulting in it becoming the fastest growing cultural precinct in Australia.  Previously, she was Director of Campbelltown Arts Centre, where she pioneered an internationally renowned contemporary arts program that brought together culturally and socially diverse communities. She has been named one of Sydney’s top 100 influential people.

Sam Christie

Board Member


Sam Christie is a restaurateur and was born and raised in Sydney. He is the Managing Director for his four restaurants: Longrain Sydney, Longrain Melbourne, The Apollo and Cho Cho San. Sam understands and embraces the opportunity his businesses have to make a positive difference in the local & global community. As well as his role on the board of Underbelly Arts, he is passionate about supporting homelessness and children, and is an ambassador for StreetSmart Australia.

Stuart Couzens

Board Member


Stuart Couzens is the founder of multi award winning Sydney based creative production company Alfred. He has produced events, installations and broadcast projects within the arts, entertainment and creative industries across the globe since the mid-nineties. Credits include Executive Producer roles for iconic cultural events such as Mardi Gras Party & Harbour Party, Pacha Sydney and TEDxSydney at the Sydney Opera House.
