Saturday 9th July:
3 – 4pm: Nick Wishart & FM Grande (Underbelly Arts participants)
Learn about circuit bending, experimenting with visual effects and interactivity with these two artists.
12:30pm – 2pm: Social Media – What’s your story? With Stuart Buchanan
Getting into Facebook, Twitter and blogging is only half the story – what do you do once you’re there? How do you, as an artist, make good use of these tools to tell the full story? Stuart Buchanan has worked with a multitude of key arts organisations, both here and overseas, helping them to make the most of the web and social media. In this highly practical session, he introduces various ways to help you along the path towards social media enlightenment.
As founder of the boutique digital agency The Nest (wearethenest.com.au), Stuart specialises in the delivery of web, social media and mobile solutions for the arts and creative industries. The company’s clients include Sydney Festival, Art Gallery Of New South Wales, Art Month, Sydney Writers Festival and Zapruder’s Other Films (Hungry Beast / Gruen Transfer). Stuart is also the founder of the experimental music project, New Weird Australia.
Sunday 10th July:
2 – 3pm: Petra Gemeinboeck, Rob Saunders, Liz Williamson (Underbelly Arts participants)
These artists will take you behind the scenes of their robotic installation. They will introduce its underlying concepts, and discuss its unfolding processes from the point of view of the machinic wall: why the machine looks, what it sees, and how it responds to the presence of the audience.
3 – 5pm: Matchmaking for Artmakers
Are you a creative looking for that perfect collaborator? Someone who just makes you feel complete? Then look no further! This is an informal and open get-together for artists of all types, especially those looking to meet people working across other disciplines. No expectations, except for you to leave with a few emails or phone numbers in your pocket to pull out the next time you have a creative idea in need of collaboration. Drop in for half an hour or stay for the whole session. Register your details on arrival and let us be your Cupid as we match-make and introduce new acquaintances.
There may be a few additions to the Lab Schedule, so stay tuned. We’ll provide you with a downloadable guide once everything is locked in! Sign up to our e-news to find out when it’s available.
