Buy Tickets

Pre-sale tickets for Underbelly Arts Festival are no longer on sale.

There are still tickets available – these can be purchased at the gate on the day (at the island), however there is a limited capacity. Due to the fact that people will come at different parts of the day, the event may reach capacity and then later in the day tickets may be put back on sale. To stay in touch with these developments, follow Underbelly Arts on Twitter and Facebook, or talk to Underbelly Arts staff located at Circular Quay.

If not at capacity, tickets may be bought on Festival day from the ticketing desk on Cockatoo Island for $20/$15 concession (+BF).

I was lucky enough to purchase my tickets online but I have to say I was dissapointed with the whole day. Sydney Ferries were under a lot of stress and at first said no to me buying ferry tickets and then I had to explain and proove that I had pre purchased my Underbelly tickets. Once on Cockatoo Island there was a lack of signage or staff to head you in the right direction. So once you got your entry wrist band there was no one to let you know “what happened” next. I think a lot more could have been done with the “great space” that is cockatoo island and the whole programme / festival could have been better organised. Regards Arlene

      Hi Arlene,
We’re definitely taking all comments on board to help make next year a bigger and better festival, so thanks for your feedback.
      Cheers

I really wanted to go to the festival but had NO IDEA (AFTER looking at your website) that I needed to buy tickets! Spent an hour wandering around at the Quay, couldn’t find any staff, wasn’t able to get on a ferry (too full) and eventually gave up. Next time please make it clear that tickets are necessary–and remember lots of folks don’t have iPhones etc. and can’t check Facebook or Twitter for updates unless they’re sitting at home. :(

      Hi Alyssa.
Sorry you had a difficult time trying to get to the island – one of the negatives of selling out a Festival is that people miss out – and we don’t like that either! :(
And just as with any other Festival or gig you might attend – if it sells out before you get there it’s very tricky to communicate in to people in transit that that’s the case. We had some lovely staff down at Circular Quay all day, positioned near wharves 4 & 5 (where you board to get to Cockatoo Island), who were letting everyone know that it was sold out – with signage as well.
Again, sorry the day didn’t pan out for you. But thanks for your feedback, it helps us to make next year bigger and better for everyone.
      Cheers
      Emily

    hey emm,
we are going to come down and buy tickets at gate but just saw some photos of massive cues for the boat – would it be right to think there are too many people for the next 2 boats we notice the next one after 2.10 then isn’t till 3.10pm.

2:28PM – if you don’t have tickets, the island is currently at capacity. We may release more soon, stay tuned for updates. Those who have purchased tickets already should head over to the island whenever they’re ready.
The ferry times are correct however they have put on a couple of extra ferries that aren’t scheduled. It’s up to you to try your luck. If you don’t have a ticket yet, we can’t guarantee your entry, but you’re welcome to come over to the island and hang out at the cafe until we release more tickets.

I’m collecting the tickets I won from FBi Radio on the island – am I guaranteed entry?

Am I to understand that there are limited tickets at the gate and that people will be put back on the boat if they have run out? Is there any way of finding out before we board the boat at Circular Quay? (intending around noon)

If you’re coming from Circular Quay check in with Underbelly Arts staff located at the Quay before getting on a ferry. We’ll let you know if there are tickets currently available or if there is a wait time. But we won’t send anyone home, as there are sure to be spaces made available when people leave.

      Hi Ida,
Pre-sale tickets are no longer for sale. There are still tickets available – but you can only buy them on the gate on the day and it’s a simple case of first in, best dressed! Good luck!

Are there limited tickets being sold on the day? Or can I bring my group of roughly 6 friends on the day and expect that we all get permission of entry?

We do have a capacity which we’re quickly approaching, so we recommend booking ahead if you can. Otherwise there’s no guarantee!

I tried to buy the early bird tickets and they are all gone?? Now it’s $17 to buy a ticket. The early bird ones didn’t last long.

Hi! The early bird tickets were on sale for a week and a half and they sold out! So yep, tickets are now $15+BF or $20 on the day ($5 less if you’re a concession).

      Hi Jeff,
All pre-sales are through I Wanna Ticket and they only accept credit cards. You can buy tickets using cash on the day at the gate – that’s probably your best option :)
      Hope to see you there!
