Underbelly Arts gave our project a space, the opportunity to expand, access to the participants it requires, financial support – everything it needs for a good, solid, first whack to test whether this is something we can continue, grow and tour…I’ll lay on the throttle and say that I think Underbelly Arts is the most important festival in Australia.

Since its inception Underbelly Arts has supported the careers of over 500 artists presenting groundbreaking new work and has welcomed over 4000 audience members to watch art in the making.
But we haven’t done it alone. In 2010 more than half our income came from donations. In 2011 we want to do the same.
In July we set sail for Cockatoo Island for our most ambitious and exciting event yet. Artists have proposed electrifying, crazy and unique ideas and we do everything we can to turn these into magical, beautiful works of art. We can’t do this without you.
Help artists create an inflatable music venue or turn a car into a theatre. Help them build robots into walls, circuit bend a vacuum cleaner or hang from the rafters. Help them inflate Sky Dancers, create puzzles and cover the Industrial walls with stunning projections.
There will be 150 artists on the Island. It’s going to be amazing, but it ain’t cheap. Making a donation, no matter how small, will help ensure that artists are better resourced and supported.
$50 or more can help an artist buy their materials to build their artwork
$100 or more can help light their performance in a darkened room
$500 or more can pay for a projector. For a day. We need 15 of them.
$1000 or more can bring a barge load of gear to the Island from the mainland. We need at least 3 barges. And double that to get back again.

Rinse Out Inc is the organisation behind Underbelly Arts. We support artists as they take the first or next step in their artistic careers. Rinse Out Inc is a deductible gift recipient and so all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. All donors will receive a tax deductible receipt and, unless anonymous, we’ll acknowledge larger donors on our website.
