Justin Shoulder – V ⁰

‘V’ is one of Justin Shoulder’s fantastic creatures. This contemporary demon draws from the lineage of worldly fantastic creatures that have enriched human stories since the beginning of expression.

The team has been brought together by Jeff Stein to help realise both the potential of the work “V” as a large-scale work and also realize the potential of the context of the site- Cockatoo Island.

V is a cycle of perpetual indulgence in ego and self-idolatry. It is beautiful, humorous and horrific. It endeavors to awaken the creature residing in the Island itself, to become the face of the Island, revealing man’s vain need to dominate nature and shape it in his own image.
