What is it?

Underbelly Arts is an organisation that offers support and exposure to emerging and experimental artists across a variety of art-forms.

It brings together over 150 creative minds to produce works during a 10-day residency called The Lab, which is open to the public. The 10 days of development then culminates in a one day Festival, celebrating and exhibiting the new works.

When is it?

The Festival is from 12 midday – 10pm, July 16 2011. Performances will start from 1pm.

The Lab is on from July 3 – 12 2011 with scheduled tours and workshops. To find out about Lab opening hours and schedule, go here.

Where is it?

Underbelly Arts Festival and Lab is on Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour.

How do I get there?

The best way to get there is a ferry from Circular Quay or Balmain terminals. There are also private water taxis for hire. See our Getting There page for ferry timetables and additional info.

What’s different from last year?

There are 24 new projects from over 150 artists – and it’s on Cockatoo Island! There is going to be loads more music this year as well, of all different flavours.

How do I get tickets?

Tickets will be available for purchase from June 16, 2011.

Will food and drink be available for purchase?

Yep! There will be a Festival Bar and café where you can purchase yummy things to eat and drink, including alcoholic beverages.

Who runs Underbelly Arts?

Underbelly Arts is produced by Rinse Out Inc, an exciting, young, not for profit arts organisation dedicated to supporting the next generation of artists in Australia.
